So, what's new with you?
Here's what I've been working on.
Hi, everyone! Been a minute, but I’ve got some updates for you. First off, this is hopefully going to be the last email you get from me via Substack—I’m looking at a move to Ghost sometime in the next few months. It shouldn’t change much for the newsletter-reading experience, just wanted to give you a heads up!
So, what’s new? A lot:
I’ve been working on a little Foresight Studio refresh, which is an ongoing process. Currently, I’m in the “getting ready to launch a web store” part of that process. Scary! Hopefully I’ll have that ready by the end of 2025.

I’m working through layout on components for Hillbrook Glen—specifically, a small-format (A6) character booklet you’ll be able to use throughout the course of a “wellness retreat.”

I recently finished the demo for Trust Fall, a new game by me and Gabriel Robinson of Glowing Roots Press. Play as characters who did something unspeakable in the name of power in your youth, and now, decades later, are facing the consequences. It’s inspired by Yellowjackets and The Craft, and it adapts the Carved from Brindlewood system to use a shared deck of playing cards. The (free!) demo will be out on itch.io and as part of the August 9th issue of Sprigs & Kindling.

The ashcan of The Firmament remains available for purchase on itch, for over 50% off its final price. Pick it up now, and you’ll get the full version once I finish updates! What is The Firmament? It’s a GM-less tarot game for 1-6 players where you take the role of emanations of the Infinite. Descend through the firmament one tarot spread at a time and wield your powers to stop disgusting humans from wriggling their way into the Chambers of Heaven.

A few other assorted bits of news:
- I’m working on layout & graphic design for handouts that will accompany The Between’s recent crowdfund. Very worth checking out for anyone who wants to hunt and/or be monsters in Victorian England.
- Haunted Table (creators of Triangle Agency) launched a Patreon last week, and one of the first few offerings available there is a mission I wrote called The City of Tomorrow! It’s about urban planning, art, and consequences (both intended and otherwise).
- Speaking of Triangle Agency, it was nominated for four Ennies, including Best Game and Product of the Year! We’ll find out more this Friday at Gen Con—and I believe they stream the ceremony, if you’re curious.
- And speaking of Gen Con, I’ll be at Gen Con! You can find me playing games, wandering the con, or at the CRWN booth for about an hour 12-1pm on Saturday (8/2).
- That’s it for now, but more soon.
Looking to the future,
Ben // Foresight Studio
