Looking Up

The days may be getting darker here in the northeast US, but things are looking pretty bright! Between the heartening midterm results and my ongoing Kickstarter, it's been an intense, but very exciting season.

The headline for this month's newsletter is that The Firmament is live on Kickstarter through Friday, November 20th! It's already over 80% funded, and I'm so grateful for the support in making this project a reality. So, what else is new?

What's New?

A lot! To get word out about The Firmament's Kickstarter campaign, I appeared on my first-ever AP live streams on RoleD5 and Don't Kill My Character, plus a fantastic roundtable discussion about card-based game design on Plus One Exp.

October also marked my second time participating in the Cold Hearth Collective Haunt-Along! This annual tradition brings together a group of indie TTRPG folks to talk about a horror movie on Bluesky every day in October. I wrote a bit about three movies I'm fond of: Saint Maud, Annihilation, and mother! You can find the full Haunt-Along thread here.

In addition to The Firmament, I'm also contributing to a few amazing crowdfunding campaigns that are live now or coming soon. I mentioned layout on The House Edge from Haunted Table Games last newsletter - it's a roguelike time-looping mashup of FIST and Triangle Agency where players battle their way through a secure containment facility beneath an 80s casino. I'll be joining an awesome crew of artists adding a sword to Heir of Swordtember, an oracle deck and book of swords from The Press Betwixt. And keep an eye on The Beckoning Dream from Infinite Citadel when it launches next week :)

What's Next?

Most of my upcoming plans are Kickstarter-dominated, but (stretch goals aside) there's a lot of exciting things coming up for Foresight Studio. I have a handful more podcast appearances and interviews coming up over the next few weeks, a couple of which have already been recorded, so stay tuned (Bluesky is the most reliable spot to hear about them as they happen). After I emerge from the Kickstarter mines, I'll share more design diaries on the new elements of The Firmament as they evolve.

I'm also going to be at Pax Unplugged in Philadelphia next month! I'll be working at the Triangle Agency booth about half of the time, and will be hanging out (and hopefully playing some games) the rest of the con. If you happen to be going, let me know!
